View Media Site streams with chat programs
- To view Media Site streams while using Blackboard Virtual Classroom open Internet Explorer twice. Using one of the browser windows go to Blackboard, login and begin the chat session. Minimize the chat window. Using the window that is now on screen go to the Media Site Live stream, select your video and let it begin playing. When the video begins to play you can maximize the Blackboard chat session.
Not Recommended
- Dial-Up Connections with less than 56k bandwidth (i.e. 33.3k, 28.8k, 14.4k, 9.6k)
Technical Support
- A window box will pop up in a seperate window that will ask you to choose Broadband (cable modem, DSL) or Dial up (phone modem) choose the one for your connection
- If the session is live (the class is in progress) the video will buffer the stream (due to ISP internet peak times buffering may take longer and or happen more frequently during playing of the video)
- If the class is from a previous date or past the scheduled time it will be available for on-demand viewing. This also has a buffering process that is affected by the ISP internet peak times
- While viewing a class on-demand you can rewind, fast-forward, and pause the video (this is only available if the video is on-demand; live classes can only be viewed)
- Buffering and playback problems can be reduced by following the instructions for viewing web presentations. Any other problems should be directed to your ISP
